been there done that

i'm usually pretty good at staying out of the direct gaze of the spectacle. the 24-hour cycle cultural, religious and political maneuvering usually takes up more time than i am willing to invest in. unfortunately summer its easy to get pulled into the latest 'war'. the summer the hulabaloo of the moment is 'securing our borders' these 'law abiding' citizens claim to just want to 'enforce the law' while claiming that this is not 'about racism'. my gut reaction is to be revolted about their short sided 'logic' and get pulled into this mess, but then i realize the whole point of living in california is that we always deal with these issues 10-20 years before the rest of the country.

so if you so are concerned about 'protecting our borders' and 'enforcing the law' i invite you to visit our little humble patch of los angeles and see the how horrible the future could be for you. (i look forward to the day when we solve the world's problems one huarache at a time)

btw... 13 years ago we had this little thing that the voters passed called proposition 187. i was a public school teacher at the time and much worries were had about its effect on public school education. much a lot of fire and brimstone, but alas cooler heads prevailed. but like i said, been there done that.
